CPAC Foundation is a registered charity that advocates human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and the elimination of racism and anti-Asian racism by conducting research, education, training and other collaborating activities, with the goal of achieving the full potential of a diverse and inclusive Canadian society.

CPAC Foundation also promotes education and youth leadership by providing scholarships to students who have demonstrated social responsibility as well as academic excellence. Up to date, the Foundation has given out more than 200 scholarships and bursaries with a total value of close to $300,000 and built two schools in poverty and disaster stricken areas in China.

Addressing Anti-Asian Racism

COVID-19 has impacted us all but impacted the Chinese and East Asian communities more severely, with the additional virus of anti-Asian racism.

In response, we have carried out a series of anti-racism activities, including 14 anti-racism educational webinars, with topics on Racism and Its Visible and Invisible Forms, Discrimination and Human Rights, Responding to Racist Harassments and Attacks, Bystander Intervention, Preventing Racial Bullying in School, and Reporting Hate Crime and Hate Incidents.

These contents form the basis of an educational pamphlet that is being produced in English, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Filipino and will be distributed to Asian communities across Canada.

We have also actively petitioned all levels of government to recognize the severity of anti-Asian racism and take concrete steps to address it as an important part of their overall anti-racism strategies. We are part of Mayor Tory’s Roundtable on Anti-Asian Racism and have been supporting Toronto District School Board in implementing the Addressing Anti-Asian Racism Educator’s Resource. We are also involved in the development of a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) that will clarify the key terms and definitions to support implementation of the Federal Government’s 50-30 Challenge, which aspires to advance gender parity (50%) and increase diversity (30%) in leadership roles, specifically on Boards of Directors and Senior Management, across sectors.

Research on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

In an effort to address workplace equity, diversity and inclusion, we are conducting a intersectional study on the percentage of representation of Chinese Canadians in leadership positions across all sectors in the Greater Toronto Area.
