CPAC Launches 3rd Pre-Apprenticeship Electrician Training Program
March 26, TORONTO – CPAC is proud to announce the launch of its 3rd Pre-Apprenticeship Electrician Training Program today.
This program, funded by the Ontario government, is geared towards helping 20 newcomers and youth with the opportunity to build their knowledge and training to become apprentices in the electrician field.
The Pre-Apprenticeship Electrician training program offers a series of training and employment services including: Level 1 electrician training, an introductory course on the trade of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics, trade specific communication, health & safety, job readiness training, and a 8-week work placement.
“This is the right program for immigrants like me who want to build a career in a skilled trade,” said Ben Huang, a program graduate and newly registered apprentice. “The program made me ready for apprenticeship and I look forward to a rewarding career as a licensed electrician.”
CPAC works in partnership with Centennial College, Seneca College, YWCA and employers to deliver the training and services. In the past two years, over 90 per cent of program graduates found employment in the trade while about one third started apprenticeship after they completed the program.
