Over 2000 Job Seekers Attend 2024 CPAC Job Fair

TORONTO, May 8, 2024 – The annual CPAC Job Fair smashed its record of attendance this year, receiving a staggering over 2000 visitors to the one-day event. The North York Memorial Community Hall was packed to capacity, resulting in a long lineup of job seekers outside of the hall for most of the day.

About 30 prominent employers and service organizations participated in the event, including Enbridge, TD Bank, RBC Bank, CIBC Bank, Canada Revenue Agency, Ontario Government, Toronto Police Service, York Regional Police, YRDSB, Crystal Claire Cosmetics, and WEINS Auto Group. Employment service organizations, such as ACCES, Diversity Institute of Toronto Metropolitan University, Centennial College, provided valuable information on employment and career development programs.

“Five hundred attendees were considered a success a few years ago,” said CPAC’s Executive Director Andi Shi, “We had over 1000 last year and over 2000 this year, both exceeding our expectations. Perhaps it’s a sign of the current labour market.”

CPAC’s annual job fair has been presented for over two decades, initially for the internationally educated professionals, and now serving a much broader community of job seekers.

The job opportunities provided at 2024 CPAC Job Fair spanned diverse fields, including Finance, Accounting, Technology, Software Development, Business Development, Sales, Customer Service, Administration, Marketing, Project Management, Consulting, Public Service and beyond.

An on-site resume critique and a finance industry Coffee Chat table were also provided to help those in need to improve their resumes and industry specific knowledge.

“I’ve previously submitted resumes to many companies online, but I feel that participating in this kind of on-site job fair is more helpful for job seekers,” said Ms. Zheng, a recent graduate. “Through face-to-face communication, employers and applicants can better understand each other’s needs.”

Mr. Jack Ling, President of Amazing Kobotic Industries Inc. who also participated in last year’s CPAC job fair, noticed the differences in the applicants. “Last year, the proportions of recent graduates, young people, and Chinese Canadians were quite high,” observed Ling, “This year, it’s basically all experienced professionals, many of them recently laid off, and they all want to get back to work quickly, with fewer demands on the positions.”

CPAC’s fall job fair is scheduled for September 2024. Employers and job seekers are invited to check back at CPAC’s website https://cpac-canada.ca/ for updates.

Job seekers are also invited to visit the website’s Job Listing page, where new job opportunities are posted. CPAC extends its special gratitude to Enbridge, a leading energy provider in North America, for its continued support for this event, and acknowledges the assistance of the Canadian-Chinese Finance Association in organizing the event.
