Participant Testimonials from the CPAC-RBC Newcomer Mentorship for Employment Program

“The CPAC-RBC Mentorship Program opened my mind and changed my thinking. I learned to be more confident in myself and trust my own capabilities. I also learned how to build my network, as well as writing effective resumes and performing at my best in interviews. I have especially benefitted from the guidance and help from my mentor throughout my job search. She not only helped me choose the right job, but also how to adapt to the new work environment. Thank you CPAC for this amazing program.”

“As a software engineer with over 10 years of experience, I initially struggled with resume optimization and interview skills after relocating to Canada. The CPAC Mentorship Program transformed my job search through tailored workshops and mock interviews. My mentor, Lucilla Cheng, provided invaluable guidance by reviewing my resume line by line for target roles and conducting practice interviews that revealed blind spots. Her post hire advice even helped me navigate workplace challenges. Thanks to CPAC’s structured training, especially Lily He’s coordination, and RBC’s sponsorship, I gained not just a job but lasting career skills. This program bridges the critical gap between technical expertise and Canadian hiring success.”

“Before joining the CPAC mentorship program, I faced significant challenges, including lack of direction and a limited professional network, which hindered my job search efforts. Through CPAC’s training, my confidence, especially in interview skills, received a significant boost. The program provided me with invaluable insights into navigating the complexities of the Canadian job market. I am deeply grateful to CPAC and RBC for their instrumental program in empowering immigrant professionals like me. The guidance from my mentor and the CPAC team has been exceptional. Their collective efforts have provided me with invaluable insights and opportunities that have greatly supported my professional journey in Canada.”

“As an accounting professional new to Canada, I struggled with local experience, networking, and hiring practices. The CPAC Mentorship Program transformed my job search by pairing me with an industry mentor who provided crucial guidance on Canadian workplace culture, resume optimization, and interview techniques. Weekly networking homework assignments significantly expanded my professional connections. The mentorship enhanced both my practical skills and mindset, building the confidence, adaptability and resilience that are critical to success. Thanks to this support, I secured my current role at Deloitte. I am deeply grateful to my mentor, CPAC, and sponsor RBC for this career-changing opportunity.”

“I was transitioning from UX design to data analytics after a 3-year maternity leave. With low confidence and a career gap, I joined the CPAC-RBC Mentorship Program, hoping for support in re-entering the workforce. The program exceeded my expectations—through resume writing, interview preparation, and the incredible support of my mentor, I successfully landed a senior analyst position at Scotiabank. I’m deeply grateful to CPAC and RBC for helping me make this career transition.”
