来10月25日第七届CPAC教育日活动了解TOPS精英课程
由加拿大中国专业人士协会教育基金会主办、加拿大汇丰银行主题赞助的CPAC“教育日”活动是华人社区每年举行的规模最大的教育活动。主要目的是为新移民家庭提供有关加拿大教育制度的信息和其他相关服务，帮助家长和学生在加拿大新生活中取得成功。活动举办六年以来，已为数以万计的学生及家长提供了实用的教育资讯。
第七届CPAC“教育日”活动将于2014年10月25日在Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel (600 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill ON L4B1B2) 举行。 本届活动仍然保留前几届活动多样化方式，帮助参与者“一站式”搜罗所有教育相关资讯。活动当天既有近40家教育机构设立展位，与学生和家长面对面的交流，又有一场来自哈佛学子的主题演讲及八场不同教育相关主题的热门讲座，还有由各专上学生联合会主持的全天候Drop-in学生论坛。针对日益增长的成人教育需求，本届“教育日”还特意安排了一些成人再教育课程资讯及讲座，帮助想转行或进一步学习深造的移民朋友做出适合自己的教育选择。
华裔学子打破头想挤进TOPS(Talented Offerings of Programs in the Sciences)精英课程究竟是什么？来参加CPAC教育日活动，倾听这场由资深中学老师，同时也是两位TOPS学子的父亲带来的这场专题讲座（演讲者国语英语精通）：
Introduction to TOPS Program
The TOPS Program(Talented Offerings of Programs in the Sciences), is a special high school program for students interested in enrichment in the maths, sciences, and language arts. TOPS offers a strong leadership program and encourages students to reach their utmost ability. This presentation discusses the benefits and the limitations of TOPS program at Marc Garneau C.I. from a parent’s and teacher’s point of view. The topics of discussion may include:
- What is TOPS and who attend TOPS?
- TOPS admission process and how to prepare for it.
- TOPS Courses description and work load.
- TOPS major field trips and their benefits.
- TOPS graduate destinations.
- Comparing TOPS with IB and private schools
There will be a question and answer period at the end of the presentation.
Anthony Zhou: After graduating from Tsinghua University in 1985, Mr. Zhou obtained his Master of Science degree from University of British Columbia. For over ten years he served as a college professor at DeVry Institute of Technology in Toronto before switching to high school. Currently he is a senior physics teacher in York Region District School Board, and has two daughters, both going through the TOPS program.
