Research Assistant (3 positions) – Canada Summer Jobs

Position Overview

CPAC Institute is seeking three motivated and detail-oriented Summer Research Assistants to support a data-driven research initiative examining leadership trends across major sectors in the Greater Toronto Area. This role is ideal for undergraduates or graduates interested in research, data analysis, public policy, business, or social sciences.

The successful candidate will contribute to the collection, analysis, and synthesis of quantitative data, and assist in producing a high-quality written report.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in sociology, economics, public policy, education, business, data science, anthropology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated accountability, strong attention to detail, and well-developed organizational skills
  • Strong writing and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (required)
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis and research methods
  • Ability to follow structured guidelines and apply consistent judgment
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Assets (Optional)

  • Experience with social or policy research
  • Familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS)
  • Knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured research using publicly available sources, databases, and organizational materials
  • Identify and compile datasets related to organizational leadership across multiple sectors
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized research records
  • Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting a comprehensive research report
  • Summarize findings clearly for both academic and general audiences
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Employment Detail:

  • Temporary, full-time (8-week contract)
  • Number of hours per week requested: 35
  • Hourly wage: $18
  • Flexible start date
  • Hybrid and remote work options available.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the applicant must be:

  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Note: International students are not eligible.
