CPAC Education Day 2014: Connect students to better education
TORONTO, October 6, 2014 – The 7th CPAC Education Day will be held on October 25th, 2014 at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel. About forty education institute exhibitors and more than 1500 students and parents are expected to attend.
Hosted by the Education Foundation of CPAC and sponsored by HSBC Bank Canada, the CPAC Education Day is the largest education event in the GTA Chinese Community. The main purpose of this annual event is to provide newcomer families with information about the Canadian education system and related services, thereby helping students and parents succeed in their new life in Canada.
“Since its inception six years ago, this event has provided information, guidance and inspiration to tens of thousands of students and parents,” said Richard Lim, President of the Education Foundation of CPAC.
The CPAC Education Day is a conference and exhibition in one. About forty colleges and universities and education related service providers are expected to attend this year’s event, giving the audience ample opportunities for face-to-face communication about everything they want to know about Canadian education.
Education Day 2014 will feature second-year Harvard student Chloe Y. Li as the keynote speaker, sharing her experience and thoughts with a presentation entitled “Know Thyself: Connecting Self-Knowledge and Success.” Ms Li is currently studying Neurobiology and the Classics at Harvard. Her father, a high school teacher with the Toronto District School Board, will join her on stage in the Q & A session to share his thoughts as a father and a teacher.
Following the keynote presentation will be eight workshops in two breakout sessions, along with a full-day “drop-in” student forum hosted by post-secondary students to provide information and answer any questions about applying for and life at universities and colleges.
Catering to the increasing interest in continuing education, this year’s Education Day also includes workshops and a number of career colleges to provide information to mature students seeking a second career or upgrading their skills.
The CPAC Education Day has been made possible by a generous donation from HSBC Bank Canada, the event’s presenting sponsor, which has been sponsoring the event since its inception. “HSBC Bank Canada is proud to support organizations like CPAC in their efforts to help students and immigrant families,” remarked David Kuo, HSBC Bank Canada’s Head of Branch Network-Ontario.
The 2014 CPAC Education Day will be held at Sheraton Parkway Toronto North (600 HWY-7 E Richmond Hill) on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, but participants need to register online at http://cpac2014eday.eventbrite.com/ or go to a participating HSBC Bank Canada branch for complimentary tickets to secure their seats and get complimentary snacks.
Founded in 1999, the Education Foundation of CPAC is a registered charity that promotes excellence in education and provides scholarships and awards to secondary and post-secondary students who have demonstrated exceptional community leadership as well as outstanding academic achievements. The Foundation also provides assistance to students who have maintained above-average grades and have financial difficulties.
