Job Title: Cost Accountant

Report to: Controller
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the standard costing model
- Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close; review, analyze and report on inventory valuation, raw materials, WIP, direct and indirect labor, overhead costs and related variances
- Assist in coordination of the annual physical inventories
- Investigate inventory counting variances and resolve issues
- Assist in the ongoing development, data accumulation and developing KPIs and reporting on KPIs to better track the performance of the plant
- Act as the subject matter expert for reporting in SAP and BI from a costing and manufacturing perspective
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Have completed a Canadian CPA, CMA, CA, CGA designation and 3+ years of experience within a plant-based operation costing position
- Heavy SAP experience is a must
- Knowledge of both financial reporting standards (IFRS) & managerial accounting practices
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Analytical and problem-solving experience
- Excellent organizational and planning skills as this role is forever changing due to the new projects driven by new business opportunities
- Must be a self-starter and have demonstrated ability to add value to reports and analysis
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
