CPAC Calls for Nominations for 2025 Achievement Awards
October 7, Toronto – CPAC invites the Chinese community across Canada to nominate candidates for its two annual awards, the Professional Achievement Award and Young Achiever Award.
CPAC Professional Achievement Award (PAA)
The CPAC PAA was established in 2009 to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of immigrant professionals who have attained outstanding success and prominent status in recognized professions. The award also aims to provide role models for other immigrants to emulate. Past PAA recipients include exceptional individuals such as Enhui Yang (scientist), Kelvin Tran (executive) and George Gao (artist).
A Candidate for the award must be:
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Chinese descent who is an immigrant to Canada; and
- A recognized leader in their profession or in a professional field outside of their occupation (e.g., a celebrated author whose occupation is engineering)
A Candidate’s community service and contributions are an influencing factor.
CPAC Young Achiever Award (YAA)
The CPAC YAA honours an outstanding young individual, aged 29 or younger, to celebrate their community contributions or professional or business achievements, locally or abroad. The award recognizes the individual’s accomplishments based on their distinction and/or positive social impact.
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must be:
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; and
- Aged 29 years or younger on January 5, 2025
Eligible activities for consideration include but are not limited to:
- Professional or business successes
- Academic or technological discoveries, innovations or contributions
- Social entrepreneurship
- Community and/or social leadership
Please note: (1) The nominee’s main activities/accomplishments must have taken place or continued within the last two years of the nomination deadline; (2) Academic grades are not an influencing factor.
NOMINATION PROCESS
The nomination packages can be downloaded at https://cpac-canada.ca/awards/.
All nominations must include the completed 2025 CPAC Achievement Awards Nomination Form and the nominee’s resume. Proofs of achievements and other supporting materials should be included whenever possible.
The completed Nomination Form, together with the nominee’s resume and supporting materials, must be submitted through email to office@cpac-canada.ca by January 5, 2025, Attention Awards Selection Committee.
For large files that cannot be transmitted via email, a Google Drive location will be provided for uploading upon request to joe.yang@cpac-canada.ca.
SELECTION AND PRESENTATION
All nominations received will be submitted to an Award Selection Committee, which will make the final selection in consultation with experts in the fields of the nominees’ work.
Winning candidates will be notified by the end of January 2025. Nomination materials of other candidates will be kept for consideration for another year.
The award will be presented at the 2025 CPAC Annual Gala, on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa. An introductory video of the recipient will be presented at the event, followed by the award presentation and an acceptance speech by the awardee. The selection result and award presentation ceremony will be announced to the public.
