学校与专业：选择大学时哪一个更重要？
演讲嘉宾：John Wu
This presentation is about the post-secondary education system in Canada. It will discuss very interesting topics about universities across Canada and the significant decisions that every parent has to make for their children when they are in the process of choosing the best academic institution. The university application process will be explained and every step towards the desired goal will be outlined. Finally, the speaker will educate parents on how to manage their children’s progress and how to adjust their learning habits to achieve the best outcomes in their studies.
John Wu, M.A., M.Ed., CEO and Principal of Ace Acumen Academy, is a highly respected educator who has turned his love and passion for education into providing quality education for students. John established two Ontario private high school programs; these projects expanded into providing students with college diplomas through partnerships with Ontario Community Colleges. These college programs have a diverse and unique population of international students, with whom John shares a special connection. As John himself immigrated to Canada, he understands the struggles international students experience, such as language and cultural barriers – barriers that John understood through his early career teaching English in China. His empathy and dedication accounts for Acumen’s strong emphasis on education which equally focuses on content and integration. Indeed, John has had a passion for assisting and educating immigrants since his own arrival to Canada 18 years ago, working initially at a community centre assisting new immigrants. Furthermore, John was previously employed within the International Department at community colleges such as George Brown College and Seneca College.

本届CPAC“教育日”活动形式更紧凑，内容更贴合当前热门的教育话题。活动当天既有教育机构设立展位，与学生和家长面对面的交流，又有一场主题演讲及三场不同教育相关主题的热门讲座。基于往届活动的经验，今年在讲题方面更多侧重于家长和学生共同感兴趣的话题，并且大部分讲座用中文讲解。
