来第七届CPAC教育日了解安省学院优质课程
由加拿大中国专业人士协会教育基金会主办、加拿大汇丰银行主题赞助的CPAC“教育日”活动是华人社区每年举行的规模最大的教育活动。主要目的是为新移民家庭提供有关加拿大教育制度的信息和其他相关服务，帮助家长和学生在加拿大新生活中取得成功。活动举办六年以来，已为数以万计的学生及家长提供了实用的教育资讯。
第七届CPAC“教育日”活动将于2014年10月25日在Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel (600 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill ON L4B1B2) 举行。 本届活动仍然保留前几届活动多样化方式，帮助参与者“一站式”搜罗所有教育相关资讯。活动当天既有近40家教育机构设立展位，与学生和家长面对面的交流，又有一场来自哈佛学子的主题演讲及八场不同教育相关主题的热门讲座，还有由各专上学生联合会主持的全天候Drop-in学生论坛。针对日益增长的成人教育需求，本届“教育日”还特意安排了一些成人再教育课程资讯及讲座，帮助想转行或进一步学习深造的移民朋友做出适合自己的教育选择。
为什么加拿大的college课程那么火？为什么很多新移民有了学士、硕士学位还选择重返college去读一门更容易找到专业工作的课程？为什么很多加拿大本地的学子读完了大学又去college选修课程？来参加本届CPAC教育日活动，倾听这场由三所知名学院老师带来的这场专题讲座：
Ontario Colleges, a Pathway to Success
Carly Lepoutre, Centennial College
Joshua Li, George Brown College
Kelly Winger, Seneca College
A college education can be the pathway to the future. Whether students are just out of high school or coming to Canada, from overseas with existing credentials, college may be the best way to help students reach career goals. This session invites representatives from three of the top colleges in the city to discuss the similarities and differences between a college and an university education, and address the unique features in college education, including emphasis on examples of live labs, experiential learning and co-operative education.
Carly Lepoutre: A graduate of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University, and avid softball player Carly has been a leader in hosing varsity events at the University and eventually becoming an assistant coach in her final year of study. It is at SFU that she became passionate about becoming involved with a post-secondary institution; specifically the students that are transitioning out of high school, help students find their way through what can be a very over whelming time of their lives! She has travelled around the world with her softball team all over the world, including as far away as Australia, Cuba and Hawaii.
Joshua Li has over 10 years of student recruitment, student advising and project research/management experience in the postsecondary education sector in Ontario. At George Brown College, works closely with internationally-educated newcomers and their children, through many community services and newcomer organizations, such as COSTI, Skills for Change, YMCA and CPAC Joshua is a 3-time nominee and the winner of “2010 George Brown College Staff Achievement Award”.
Kelly Winger is a student recruitment officer at Seneca College. Her focus at Seneca is on the recruitment of internationally-educated professionals and mature students, as well as the promotion of post-graduate studies.
