Cost: $5 for General Public. Lunch is included (subject to availability).

The 15th annual CPAC Professionals Day is near! This is the largest career development events for professionally trained immigrants in the city attended by internationally trained professionals, employers, and service providers from a wide range of industries across the GTA. The day will be filled with informative and practical workshops to help professionals develop new skills, gain further access to various careers, and stand out in their organizations.

OPENING KEYNOTE PRESENTATION

Professionals Day will open with a keynote presentation by CARL HAIM, Assistant Vice-President, Human Resources Consulting at Foresters Financial. Mr. Haim will be speaking on managing and resolving workplace conflict from a cultural perspective, providing real examples and practical solutions for employers and employees. Mr. Haim has worked for over thirty years as a senior generalist in Human Resources in organizations such as London Life, Deloitte Consulting, and TD Insurance Home and Auto. Mr. Haim is also a part-time Adult Instructor at Seneca College for in-class and online Business Management & Organizational Behaviour courses.

CLOSING KEYNOTE

Closing the 2016 Professionals Day will be LINDA MACKAY, Senior Vice President, Branch Banking at TD Canada Trust. Linda recently took on the leadership of the Greater Toronto Region which includes 257 branches and 5,650 TD Teammates. Ms. Mackay will be imparting her experience about leadership to our audience.

EXHIBIT HALL

If you’re on the job hunt, make sure to bring your resume! The exhibition area will feature employers looking to hire trained immigrants and young professionals. Some of the organizations who will be at Professionals Day to hire talent include the City of Toronto, TD Canada Trust, PwC, Bell Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, RBC, Evertz Microsystems, the Canadian Forces, Sun Life Financial, Investors Group, Eventpick, and PostBeyond.

Professionals Day will also feature many professional service providers to help with your career development. There will also be a resume critique booth on site. Those looking for bridging or gateway programs to gain new credentials can visit our numerous education booths to learn more about continuing education.

Exploring Alternative Career Pathways: Differentiating your Skill Set in the Modern Market
Much of the skills and knowledge you’ve gained from previous work experience is more transferable than you think! Join Ivan Tsarynny, CEO of PostBeyond, to learn about his path from working in IT to building a high-growth, venture-backed tech company. Ivan will break down some of the traditional ideas around career development to demonstrate how you can grow your skill sets, consider alternative pathways beyond your professional training, and branch out towards new opportunities, regardless of your educational and professional background.

Make Your Own Path and Tell Your Own Story: Cultivating a Personal Brand
In order to be competitive in today’s job market, it is important to develop a personal brand that employers and clients can engage with. Leyla Razeghi currently works as a brand consultant in Toronto and she will share her experiences as an immigrant establishing herself in a corporate and entrepreneurial role. Drawing from her own personal and work culture, Leyla will identify areas that can help you tell your own story and better engage your networks.

Challenges Women Face in the Workplace
Four successful female professionals will discuss issues and challenges women face in the workplace, both in the corporate and non-profit world. Audiences can learn about the barriers and mobility women face, the differences for women in professional networking. and what mechanisms are in place to address and remedy these issues.

Networking Do’s and Don’ts
Mauricio Ospina has a lot of experience in effective networking, having built a strong foundation for the Hispanic community with the Canadian Hispanic Business Alliance and growing their presence in Canada. Here he will demonstrate tips on REAL networking, New York style! Find out how to go to industry events for free, how to become the “best friend” of the potential employer, and gain access to free databases of Canadian companies.

Dress for Success with Gotstyle
Join Konstantine Malishevski of Gotstyle in this workshop where he and his stylists will give some wardrobe tips that will turn heads. They will explain the do’s and don’t on how to dress for the interview and in the professional environment.

Acing Behavioural Interviews with TD Canada Trust
Two of the most important subjects in the job interview process is often ignored: Behavioural Focused Interview (BFI) and Soft Skills. Becky Jiao and Rachael Wong of TD Canada Trust will demonstrate how you can distinguish yourself and succeed in job interviews and your careers.
