Achieve and Aspire ~ CPAC to Celebrate 30 Years of Service and Advocacy

Nov 1, TORONTO – CPAC, a multi-dimensional organization that is an association of internationally educated professionals, a career and skills development service provider, and a developing think tank that provides research-based support for the understanding and elimination of systemic barriers to equity, diversity, will celebrate its 30th Anniversary at its 2022 Annual Gala on November 27th, 2022 at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North.

With the theme of “Achieve and Aspire,” the event will also raise funds for its research, training and public education initiatives to raise awareness of and combat anti-Asian racism and advance racial equity, diversity and inclusion.

The annual CPAC Gala is a premier social event in the GTA Asian communities. The event offers an excellent opportunity to engage with some of Toronto’s foremost business and community leaders amongst the Chinese, Asian and global communities.

The program of the gala event also includes the presentation of the CPAC Professional Achievement Award (PAA) and Young Achiever’s Award (YAA). These awards highlight the professional and community contributions of outstanding individuals and provide role models for members of the immigrant community.

The recipients of the 2022 CPAC Professional Achievement Award are internationally renowned scientist Gang Zheng and musician George Gao. Dr. Zheng is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Cancer Nanomedicine and Professor of Medical Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science and Medical Science at the University of Toronto. He is also a Senior Scientist and Associate Research Director at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Mr. George Gao is a Germini-award nominated Canadian musician and world-famous erhu player and a renaissance artist. He has written and arranged music for films, TV and a Broadway musical, and has guest- performed around the world.

This year’s YAA recipient is Miss Chen Chen, a Master’s student at the University of Toronto’s Department of Molecular Genetics and a recipient of the Ontario Service Award. Miss Chen is an outstanding youth leader who has advocated for underappreciated issues in her global community and for peers locally, such as promoting and contributing to the work of the Association for Learning and Preserving the History of WWII in Asia, raising awareness of health and wellbeing, and changing conditions of success for young people.
