Beat the Drum to Recognize Successful Local Engineering Projects

The Professional Engineers Ontario York Chapter Awards Committee is issuing a Call for Applications for the inaugural York Region Engineering Project of the Year Award.

This newly established annual award (with up to $2,000 prize) seeks to recognize up to three projects with a high quality of engineering, imagination and innovation.

The objective of this award is to recognize the contribution, both to the engineering profession and to the local community, by an organization that has undertaken or completed an outstanding technical project within the past year. Projects of all types of engineering (discipline) and size (scale and budget) will be considered equally.

The applications will be judged based on their innovation, technical merit, environmental and/or social impact, commercial viability, and impact to York Region. Preference will be given to projects located in York Region and/or managed by companies with significant operational presence in York Region.

The awards will be presented each year at the PEO York Chapter AGM and Certificate Presentation Gala. This year the Awards Gala will be held on February 9, 2013 at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre.

The awards include plaques and/or trophies presented to the top three selected projects, plus additional prize money. The winners will also be announced on the PEO York chapter website, http://www.peoyork.com/, complete with a profile of their projects and organizations. These electronic and print publications reach the PEO York chapter membership of over 7500.

Additional contest details, including eligibility and evaluation criteria and the official application form, are located on the PEO York Chapter website in the York Region Engineering Project of the Year Award section.
