CPAC Celebrates Family Fun with its 16th Annual Summer Festival

June 18, TORONTO – Hundreds of families attended the 16th CPAC Summer Festival at Mel Lastman Square in North York last Saturday, June 15. Held annually by CPAC, this event is one of the largest celebrations of cultural heritage in GTA. This year, with TELUS being the presenting sponsor, CPAC celebrated a family-themed day of fun with even more games and activities for all to enjoy.

As a registered not-for-profit organization, CPAC works with new immigrants to help them integrate culturally and engage in civic activity in Canada. In organizing the Summer Festival, CPAC hopes to promote global awareness by providing a platform on which newcomers can socialize with residents.

“We gather together on this day to enjoy the summer while celebrating the various colorful cultures that Canada embodies. At CPAC, we strive to curate activities that showcase a fusion of valuable heritages, providing the GTA community with a memorable and unique experience,” said Mr. Eric Xiao, President of CPAC.

Following past years’ tradition, the all-ages festival was free to the public and highlighted by cultural performances, games and a vendor market. Children participated in athletic activities like three-legged races with their parents, and funny potato sack race. They also loved the face painting booth and utilized their artistic talent at the arts and craft booth. Parents checked out the vendor market, and professional performers from communities came on stage to showcase their talents. Performances ranged from traditional folk art such as opera, martial art, dance, to more modern entertainment such as pop dance and magic show. There were two Lucky Draws which featured great prizes, and one special lucky draw just for kids.

The 16th CPAC Summer Festival was attended by representatives of governments, MPs Jean Yip and Shaun Chen, and MPPs Aris Babikian and Vincent Ke, and representatives from the Consulate General of the PRC, Consuls Baohua Yang and Sining Li. The government leaders praised CPAC for providing a platform to celebrate cultural diversity in the GTA community.

The 2019 CPAC Summer Festival was presented by TELUS, with additional financial support from its Gold Sponsor, CIBC.
