CPAC Kicks Off Canada Day Celebrations Early with 13th Annual Summer Festival

June 27, TORONTO – Thousands of people attended the 13th CPAC Summer Festival at L’Amoreaux Park in Scarborough on June 25. This event is one of the largest celebrations of cultural heritage in GTA held annual by CPAC. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Celebrate Canada.’

One of CPAC’s objectives is to help newcomers integrate into and contribute to Canadian society via cultural and recreational services. The CPAC Summer Festival is organized with this in mind, featuring food and entertainment from all regions of the world.

“No matter where you are from, we are here today enjoying the summer fun as well as celebrating Canada Day,” said Ms. Margaret Yang, President of CPAC at the opening ceremony.

Highlights of the day included a variety of summer and games, delicious food, and recreational activities for the whole family. Kids were thrilled to partake in many three-legged and potato sack races with their parents. They also learned how to make bracelets and other handicrafts at the arts table. The CPAC stage featured five hours of live-performances such as martial arts, Beijing opera, cultural dances, cheerleaders, a fashion show, and a dazzling dog show. In addition, good bargains and special offers were found at the vendor area where a flea market took place. Community members sold children’s goods at affordable prices.

There were loads of great prizes for participants, with thirty big lucky draw items given away throughout the day, including a round-trip plane ticket to China.

The 13th CPAC Summer Festival was attended by community leaders such as Arnold Chan, MP of Scarborough-Agincourt; Geng Tan, MP of Don Valley North; Soo Wong, MPP of Scarborough-Agincourt; and Chin Lee, Toronto City Councillor for Scarborough – Rouge River. They highly praised CPAC for bringing so many great programs and activities to the community.
