CPAC Members Alert: Gift Package and Special Member’s Vote at 2014 Summer Festival on June 21

Celebrate Canada! Happy Summer! The Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC) is hosting the 11th Annual Summer Festival– Celebrate Canada on June 21st at the L’Amoreaux  Park at Birchmount and McNicoll in Scarborough. Thousands of people are expected to join this family event.

At this year’s CPAC Summer Festival-Celebrate Canada, CPAC will have giveaway bags to the first 200 CPAC members who attend the event by simply verifying their membership (provide your member number and contact info) at CPAC’s booth on the site.

Members are also invited to VOTE at the special members meeting held to ratify a resolution by the Board of Directors with respect to a change in the Association’s name.

At the Annual General Meeting in 2011, members ratified a proposal to open CPAC’s membership to individuals from all culture and ethnicities. Now three years after this change, the Board has resolved to change the Association’s name to better reflect more accurately the nature and composition of our memberships and the clients we currently serve.  The Board has resolved to change the Association’s official name from “Chinese Professionals Association of Canada” to its acronym “CPAC”, and at the same time use a new trade name with the same acronym “Cross-Cultural Professionals Association of Canada”.  The name change would also facilitate the Association in obtaining more government funding for its programs, as all government funded programs must serve people from all communities.

We hope members will understand vote to approve such a change.  Voting will be open from 12pm to 5pm at 2014 CPAC Summer Festival.
