Education Museum Associate, ALPHA Education
ALPHA Education (www.alphaeducation.org) is an educational non-profit organization that promotes a critical-historical inquiry of World War II in Asia. Our mission is to foster awareness of an often-overlooked aspect of World War II history, centering the values of justice, peace, and reconciliation. We accomplish this through 4 strategic directions: engaging educators and students, empowering youth, connecting with the community, and supporting research. In June 2024, ALPHA Education opened its WongAvery Asia Pacific Peace Museum (www.asiapacificpeacemuseum.com).
The major duties of the Education Museum Associate are mainly within the strategic direction of engaging students and educators, with overlapping duties in the other three strategic directions – empowering youth, supporting research and connecting communities. The duties also include education and research work related to WongAvery Asia Pacific Peace Museum.
Office Location: 1775 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto
Working Hours: 37.5 hours

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Associate Executive Director and working as a member of ALPHA Education team
Education:
• Develop, design and produce research for education programs, workshops and key ALPHA Education and Asia Pacific Peace Museum (APPM) new projects
• Develop and promote education programs and resources for Asia Pacific Peace Museum
• Coordinate and facilitate school visits to APPM
• Outreach, design and facilitate student workshops and conferences
• Coordinate and facilitate professional development workshops and opportunities for teachers
• Connect and liaise with school boards and educational institutions for partnerships
• Support the design and development of impact study of programs and workshops
Youth:
• Develop and support youth programs and university chapters including organizing youth retreats
• Coordinate and undertake annual review of ALPHA Education internship programs such as summer internships and those in partnership with universities
Others:
• Coordinate and support ALPHA’s community outreach and events as required
• Update and maintain ALPHA’s website and various social media platforms to generate higher engagement and awareness
• Contribute to the design of ALPHA Education-related communication materials
• Provide proactive and creative ideas on new youth programs
REQUIREMENTS
• A degree, from an accredited university, in education, humanities, social sciences, or related disciplines; post graduate qualifications such as a masters degree is an asset
• Minimum 2 years of relevant, related experience in education, museum, and research
• Aspires to pursue a career in the non-profit sector
• Highly competent in research and committed to humanity and global peace
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creative and competent in designing research-informed projects, workshops, and resources
• Positive work attitude and open to learning
• Organized, quick to learn, and ability to multi-task
• Strong interpersonal and team skills with people of diverse backgrounds
• Highly competent in use of technology and apps: Adobe Pro, Omeka, Canva, social media, Learning Management System such as Google Classroom and Canvas and WIX website management
