Position: Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Cantonese OR Mandarin Speaking – Geriatric Care

Accepting: Fulltime, Part-time and Casual

Location: Mississauga, Markham, North York, Scarborough

Pay rate: $21/hour

Shifts: Required to work all three shift: Days, evenings, nights, and weekends

Job Description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients’ physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization’s resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents’ rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Duties

· Provide support and assistance to individuals in need of care

· Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming

· Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals

· Monitor and report any changes in the individual’s condition to the appropriate personnel

· Provide companionship and emotional support to individuals

Experience

· Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred

· Familiarity with nursing home, assisted living, hospice care, or home care settings is a plus

· Experience in providing patient care, particularly for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments, is highly desirable

· Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as required

Qualifications

· Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent

· Experience in long term care setting an asset

· Current CPR Certificate

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

· Ability to take initiative, problem solve and time manage

· Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player

· Computer literacy

· Shift work, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

· Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

· Cleared Police vulnerable sector Check (Valid within 6 months)

· Up to date immunizations (i.e. TB)
