How to Get a Job with Ontario Government? Get Some Tips at May 31’s CPAC Professional Day and Job Fair

CPAC Professionals Day 2014, a career development conference and job fair for immigrant professionals in the GTA, will be held on May 31 at Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel.

Continuing the decade-long success of this event, the 13th CPAC Professionals Day will bring a new lineup of speakers, employers and service providers and will be held in an upscale facility to match the profile of this event. The one-day event features a keynote speaker and 10 breakout sessions on various career related topics. Close to 50 employers and service providers from various sectors and industries will participate in the Job Fair/Marketplace, bringing in a wide range of employment opportunities or promoting their programs and services to the participants.

Insights on How to Get a Job with Ontario Government

In this session, the speakers will walk you through the hiring process of public servants for the government of Ontario. In particular, you will learn how to communicate your strengths to make yourself stand out and how to prepare yourself for a competency-based interview. In addition, you will learn how to search for job openings and develop job leads.

Vivian Lo has over five years experience with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. She has been a member of the Steering Committee of the Generic Output Specifications for Healthcare Facilities Design and Standards developed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Canadian Standards Association Standard Z8000. She received her Master’s degree in Architecture and a medical sciences undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto.

Having been with the Ontario Public Service for over 9 years, Amy Wong is currently a Configuration Management Specialist for Enterprise Financial Systems with the Ministry of Government Services.  For her outstanding work, she received the ministry’s Edge Team Award in 2012 and was nominated for Amethyst team award for OPS diversity programs in 2014.
