InnoVision 2024 to Spotlight on Cancer Treatment and Human-Computer Interaction

Responding to public interest, the 2024 CPAC InnoVision Summit will turn its focus on the latest developments in cancer treatment and diagnosis, while showcasing the marvels of human-computer interaction.

The InnoVision summit is an annual innovation themed event that highlights the latest advancements in science and technology. The audience are professionals, businesspeople, academics, students, science and tech enthusiasts, and others who are interested in exploring and learning about new scientific developments.  

The theme of InnoVision 2024 is medical and health sciences, covering two main areas of research and development: cancer treatment and diagnosis, which affect the lives of a large proportion of humanity, and human-computer interaction, which has the potential to make life easier and fun for not only people with injuries and diseases, but also everyone else around the world.

19:30 – 20:30   The Wonder of Human-Computer Interaction: Embracing Ubiquitous Technology to Complement, Scale, and Extend Traditional Healthcare

Speaker:Alex Mariakakis, PhD

This presentation will provide an overview of innovations at the intersection between human-computer interaction and healthcare, including brain-computer interfaces and exoskeletons that assist individuals with severe physical disabilities in controlling electronic devices, and more ubiquitous applications employing smartphones and wearables for signal processing and machine learning to assess a person’s health conditions.

An expert panel is assembled from the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Canada’s leading cancer research and treatment hospital, to provide a comprehensive overview of the current and future tools for the diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer. The panelists will also share their own discoveries and diagnostic and therapeutic products. This session will be interactive, where audience will have ample opportunities to ask questions.
