CPAC (formerly Chinese Professionals Association of Canada) is a non-profit organization with 30,000 members. Its main objective is to assist internationally trained professionals in gaining recognition, cultural integration, career advancement and expanded international opportunities.

CPAC is seeking a full time, maternity leave substitute to coordinate International Cooperation and Operations Support activities. This is a 13-month contract position, with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities – International Cooperation (85%)

Working primarily with government clients in China, the incumbent is expected to

  • Plan, coordinate and execute all International Cooperation (IC) initiatives, programs and events;
  • Build, manage and sustain relationships and partnerships in both Canada and China;
  • Develop new international business opportunities;
  • Develop communication messages and promote IC programs and events;
  • Outreach and recruit participants for IC events and programs locally and to China;
  • Coordinate IC activities involving other staff and volunteers;
  • Monitor partner satisfaction, engagement and policy updates;
  • Prepare annual work reports to long-term clients in China;
  • Liaise with CPAC’s representatives in China;
  • Identify and implement best practices in developing and managing IC programs and events;
  • Ensure that IC management systems and processes are continuously developed and utilized in developing IC business;
  • Participate in IC Committee meetings and execute initiatives recommended by the Committee;
  • Provide support to senior management in areas of expertise in a timely manner;
  • Maintain in confidence accurate database to ensure accurate and timely production of acknowledgements.

Responsibilities – Operations Support (15%) 

  • Coordinate and provide support for operational needs such as maintenance, purchase,  security, and event logistics;
  • Supervise administrative associate and assistant;
  • Organize learning, development and team building activities
  • Ensure compliance with government legislation, regulations and policies;
  • Assist in the improvement of and compliance with operational rules, policies and procedures.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • University degree or equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Work experience in China-Canada business development, government relations or related bilateral cooperation;
  • Strong problem solving skills, able to find creative solutions to unusual or unprecedented challenges with international clients;
  • Ability to take initiative when appropriate and respond appropriately to requests for information;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and  Mandarin;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven record of being able to work well and tactfully with different personalities;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Experience in supervising others and working with volunteers;
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other software
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

Hours: 35 hrs per week. Full benefits package after 3 months, 2 weeks paid vacation (pro-rated base on anniversary date)
