Role Description
This is an on-site or hybrid, full-time position for a Legal Administrative Assistant and Law Clerk based in Toronto, ON. The role is responsible for managing legal documentation, assisting lawyers with administrative tasks, organizing and maintaining files, drafting documents and correspondence, coordinating schedules, and communicating with clients and internal staff. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure efficiency in day-to-day office operations and the ability to support legal professionals effectively.
What you will be doing:
- Opening and closing files
- Drafting/proofreading, serving, and filing court documents under the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Managing day to day demands of multiple lawyers and their litigation practices
- Maintaining physical and electronic document system
- Preparing bills of costs
- Calendar and email management
- Other duties as assigned
- Proficiency in administrative assistance and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Excellent communication skills, including professional interaction with clients and colleagues
- Attention to detail and the ability to ensure accuracy in legal documents and administrative processes
- Proficiency in legal and office software applications
- Previous experience in a legal administrative role or a related position is an asset
- A college diploma or certificate in legal administration or a related field is preferred
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in the legal industry
- Experience in commercial litigation
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Caselines
- Ability to multi-task and manage your time in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Completion of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma an asset
