Let’s Talk Webinar-A video series about anti-Asian racism

Join us for the launch of our Let’s Talk videos and discuss how we can find ways to resolve anti-Asian sentiment.

About this event

In response to the alarming rise in anti-Asian racism, the Act2EndRacism Network has produced five short videos, seeking to counter disinformation and misinformation that has fueled anti-Asian sentiment.

Join us on May 20th as we host a panel discussion with a special focus on two videos – “Yellow Peril” and “Model Minority”.

Moderated by Teresa Woo-Paw, Founder of Action, Chinese Canadians Together, we will discuss with our panelists why the yellow peril narrative still persists today. In what ways do our systems and structures uphold this form of racism? How has this narrative impacted racialized Canadians as employees, students, community members and, as we strive to be equal citizens?

Addressing systemic racism requires us to reflect and go underneath the surface. Our goal is to go beyond what has been discussed previously so we can find ways to resolve anti-Asian sentiments.

Panelists:

The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth

Deputy Minister Daniel Quan-Watson, Government of Canada Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs
