Liberal Party of Canada Leader Mr. Trudeau visits CPAC
The Liberal Party of Canada Leader, Mr. Justin Trudeau, met with the staff, board members of Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC) on Apr 24. He took a tour of CPAC office and answered the questions of CPAC board members.
Over 20 years, CPAC has been at the forefront of serving immigrant professionals and helping newcomers’ transition to a new life in Canada. “With a national membership of 29,000, CPAC is one of the largest of its kind in Canada and has served tens of thousands of internationally trained professionals to achieve their career and life goals.” introduced by Ms. Margaret Yang, the president of CPAC. Mr. Trudeau highly praised the contributions and accomplishments that CPAC has made in the last 20 years. He complimented on CPAC’s initiative on nurturing not just the immigrants, but the young adults with international backgrounds as well. He believed that these initiatives can better aid the immigrant community to integrate and be successful in Canada. Furthermore, he especially complimented on the progress CPAC has made so far in the Gateway Programs, the Mentorship Programs and the Leadership Development Programs. Mr. Trudeau also confirmed the importance of developing good relationship between Canada and China, as the son of the former Prime Minister, who did tremendous contribution for Sino-Canada relationship, he believed that strengthen the communication with China should be the long term strategy of Canada.
Mr. Trudeau also answered the questions of CPAC board members. Regarding to immigration policy, he emphasized that Liberal always recognize the importance of family relationship and the change of the policy should be transparent and consistent. “Immigrant professionals are an important component amongst the contributors for Canada’s economic development. The government must work with the association like CPAC, to improve and continue to invest to better aid these immigrants and better integrate them into the Canadian society.” Mr. Trudeau said when they answered the question related to the career development of new immigrants. He also mentioned that he strongly supported the Chinese politicians and hope he could bring more voice of Chinese community to Ottawa.
The Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC) is a federally registered, not-for-profit organization with the objective of serving and representing the interests of immigrant professionals. For the past 20 years, a lot of politicians and leaders of different parties visit and dialog regarding to a wide range of important topics.
