Position Description
The Logistics Operation Specialist assumes the following main responsibilities:
- Monitor shipping schedules, planning delivery arrangements and provide updates to customers
- Verification of OBL & payment requirements prior to shipment release
- Resolve logistics issues promptly at origin and/or destination
- Guaranteeing and billing of storage / demurrage for approved accounts
- Responsible to ensure the approval of supplier’s invoices and verifying overseas affiliate’s remittance on a timely basis
- Responsible for resolving in a diligent and business efficient manner customer complaints and implement measures to prevent their frequency and recurrence
- Knowledge of customs clearance and Inland logistics in North America and/or Europe
- Responsible to resolve internal and operation problems on a diligent and business efficient manner in order to prevent service deficiencies and/or customers’ dissatisfaction
- Contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives through customer satisfaction and compliance with productivity and quality standards of the company
- Complete customer billing on time and Other tasks and duties assigned from time to time
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- Related Post-Secondary education is required
- Minimum 1 years’ logistics industry experience preferred
- Freight Forwarding and air freight/ocean freight (CIFFA) is an asset
- Knowledge of Canadian and US Customs requirements
- Knowledge of Freight Forwarding / Supply Chain Logistics
- Knowledge of Ocean Freight Operations
- Experience in Air Imports is an asset
- Experience in International Logistics with maritime FCLs from Asia and Europe to different regions in the world
- Understanding of carriers’ service and routing and customer’s current shipment, statistical and financial status (Credit)
- Must be detail oriented , organized and accurate when processing documentation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, Web based and Job specific software applications is required
- Good communication skills and customer service oriented.
