Pearl River Symphony Orchestra in Toronto – Enjoy 20% off concert tickets

Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto(CCC) is hosting one of the major programs for the China-Canada Cultural Exchanges in 2015 on September 22 (Tuesday) at 8:00pm at the PC Ho Theatre. The program will be performed by the Pearl River Symphony Orchestra from Guangdong under the baton of Maestro Max Xin Yu who is a Chinese born Australian conductor.  He has made concert appearance with the major professional orchestras internationally such as Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Verona Opera Orchestra(Italy), Vaasa Symphony Orchestra (Finland), Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, etc.  Pearl River Symphony Orchestra is one of the professional performing entities in China with more than 50 years of history.  They will be performing in Montreal and Toronto in this Canada trip.

The major repertoires of the program include:

Symphony: Ode to the Sixth Patriarch, Huineng by Julian Yu.  This large-scale symphonic work is based on the life and development of the Sixth Chinese Zen Buddhist Patriarch, Huineng, and the first three movements “Seeking the Dharma”, “Mastering the Dharma”, and “Establishing the Dharma” will be performed.  The composer subtly combines contemporary and traditional culture, using the traditional Western symphonic genre and modern composition techniques to express the depths of Huineng’s philosophical thought and spiritual height.

Yellow River Piano Concerto, and many other familiar Chinese repertoires with Western symphonic arrangements.
