CPAC also conducts research to support the understanding and elimination of systemic barriers to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Job Description

Job Summary:

Reporting to the program manager, the program associate will assist in developing partnership with service providers and employers and provide support to training delivery and work placement. The position requires a significant ability to work independently. The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem-solver with a positive attitude who thrives in a collaborative, team work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Reach out to program participants and partners, and assist in securing work placement/apprenticeship employment opportunities
  • Track work placement progress and provide support to participants and/or employers whenever a need is identified
  • Assist in planning and delivery of training workshops and matching program participants to placement/employment opportunities
  • Provide one-on-one support to program participants on marketing tool development, interview preparation, job search techniques and placement/employment preparation
  • Make referrals to other CPAC programs or partner agencies as needed
  • Provide support to training service providers and assist in the delivery of training activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide statistical information as requested
  • Support career development conferences, job fairs and other career related events
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education in social services, preferably in employment support or equivalent experience
  • Good knowledge of labour market trend and job search strategies
  • Abilities and experiences in employment counselling, job search workshops, resume critique, interview guidance and job development are assets
  • Outgoing personality, can-do spirit, strong relationship building skills and ability to outreach and work with diverse employers and partners
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse clients including youth and newcomers
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Must be a team player and able to work with different personalities and working styles
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access, and internet
