Rebecca Wu

Rebecca Wu is a third-year medical student at the University of Toronto whose work spans neuroscience research, clinical innovation, medical education, and community leadership.
As a researcher, she has contributed to studies at the intersection of neuroscience and aging and is the first author of a peer-reviewed publication in Alzheimer’s & Dementia.
Beyond academic research, Rebecca is deeply engaged in applied clinical innovation. She is a core contributor to 1Stroke, a global, open-access platform that develops simplified, mobile-friendly clinical pathways to reduce delays in stroke recognition and treatment, particularly in low- and middle-income settings.
Rebecca has also demonstrated leadership in medical education and emerging technologies, helping expand AI literacy among medical trainees through hands-on workshops, journal clubs, and interdisciplinary panels.
A central focus of her leadership has been medical student wellbeing. She helped deliver a province-wide retreat for more than 120 medical students and contributed to the design and implementation of wellness initiatives reaching hundreds of students annually.
Committed to community health, Rebecca co-founded and led Namaste, a free summer yoga and mindfulness program serving low-income families in Scarborough. She has also volunteered at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, supporting arts-based programming for youth with physical and intellectual disabilities. This experience informed her current work co-founding the Transition Navigator Program, an emerging initiative supporting youth and families transitioning from pediatric to adult care.
Through research, education, and community leadership, Rebecca continues to contribute meaningfully to healthcare and to serve as a role model for young professionals across Canada.
