Research Assistant (2 positions) – Canada Summer Jobs
Job Description:
CPAC Institute is hiring two (2) summer students to assist in a public policy research project.
Education:
- In-progress or completed graduate degree in public policy, sociology, economics, public health, and other social science fields.
Experience:
- Previous exposure to research is required.
- Experience with conducting interviews is an asset.
- Communication-related work experience is a plus.
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Understanding of qualitative research methods
- Strong outreach and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, conceptualization and report writing abilities
- Ability to process information with a high level of accuracy
- Knowledge of major societal issues
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team
Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature surveys on topics related to the research project
- Assist with data collection and analysis
- Communicate effectively with organizations and individuals to ensure timely delivery of research outputs
- Draft reports and research papers on findings
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Employment Detail:
- Temporary, full-time (8-week contract)
- Number of hours per week requested: 35
- Hourly wage: $16
- Hybrid and remote work options available
Eligibility:
To be eligible, the applicant must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the beginning of the employment period;
- a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* for the duration of the employment; and
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
*International students are not eligible. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
