CPAC (formerly Chinese Professionals Association of Canada) is a service provider as well as a membership and community organization with over 30,000 members of cross-cultural backgrounds. It has advocated for and served the internationally trained professionals community for over two decades, especially in helping them obtain licenses, find employment, advance career, integrate in society, and develop leadership skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Post-Secondary program in Event Management, Business, Marketing or related field
- Excellent communication skills and knowledge of marketing in the not-for-profit sector
- Bilingual in Mandarin and English
- Good computer skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
- Positive attitude and excellent attendance record
- Some experience in administrative assistance, event planning, or non-profits is an asset
- Photoshop and basic graphic designing skills preferred
- Excellent copywriting or content writing skill is an asset
- Experience with WordPress is an asset
- Must be out-going
Eligibility
Students must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
*International students are not eligible.
Position 1: Summer Student- Marketing Assistant
Start Date: July 12, 2021
Number of weeks requested: 10
Number of hours per week requested: 35
Hourly wage to be paid to the participant: $15.00
Job Summary
This is a support position that requires a strong ability to work independently. The ideal candidate is a bright problem-solver with a positive attitude and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment. Some background in marketing, administrative support, event planning, or non-profit experience is an asset. The Marketing Assistant will report to Event Manager/Communication and Event Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the project team to execute event plans, assist all areas of event management, including but not limited to:
- Conduct research and collect data via phone, email, social media etc.
- Design and draft marketing collaterals
- Provide administrative support to the project Communication and Event team
- Prepare marketing documents, website/social media content
- All other tasks as assigned
Position 2: Summer Student- Event Marketing Specialist
Start Date: July 26, 2021
Number of weeks requested: 10
Number of hours per week requested: 35
Hourly wage to be paid to the participant: $15.00
Job Summary
This is a support position that requires a strong ability to work independently. The ideal candidate is a bright problem-solver with a positive attitude and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment. Some background in marketing, administrative support, event planning, or non-profit experience is an asset. The event marketing specialist will report to Event Project Manager.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the project team to execute the event plan, assist in all areas of event management, including but not limited to:
- Outreach and market the event to event stakeholders, especially employers, youths and immigrants
- Recruit and liaise with event exhibitors (including speakers and employers) and participants
- Online venue management with Zoom, WebEx or similar online meeting tools
- Produce event and marketing collaterals
- Provide administrative support to the project team
- Prepare marketing documents for social media (Facebook, Google, WeChat, CPAC website)
- All other tasks as assigned
