This Saturday: “Construction Law and the Engineer” Workshop

Attention Engineers:

With the beginning of the new year, it’s a great time for all of us to think about how we would like to develop professionally.  Whether you want to gain new knowledge, learn new skills, get some tips to find employment or explore opportunities for career growth, joining a weekend workshop will be a right move.  Come out and join CPAC’s Weekend Workshops for Engineers.  This is a great opportunity to network with your peers, to exchange ideas and experiences with people with the same interest, goals and professional background.  What better way to help you learn and grow faster.

The first weekend workshop for CPAC’s Engineer Members in 2015 is “Construction Law and the Engineer”. In this workshop, you will learn the following:

  1. Introduction to Project Delivery Methods and a review of Standard Form Construction Contracts.
  2. Contract Negotiation / Contract Administration (including how to terminate a contract and high risk clauses to be aware of).
  3. Fundamental concepts under the Construction Lien Act including: entitlement to a lien generally and specifically for Engineers and limitation periods under the Construction Lien Act.
  4. Understanding Holdback obligations and Early Release of Holdback for Engineers.

Speaker Jonathan Goode, LL.B., is an associate in a respected law firm and practices exclusively in the area of construction law, on behalf of general contractors, public and private owners, sureties, subcontractors, suppliers, financial institutions and design professionals. He has published articles on Construction Law and speaks regularly to other associations and interest groups.
