Dr. Tianqing Peng
Dr. Tianqing Peng is a Professor of Medicine at Western University and a Scientist at the London Health Sciences Centre. He is a world-renowned investigator and innovator in the field of cardiovascular disease and septic organ injury. He is a recipient of many research awards, including the prestigious Rick Gallop Award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the New Investigator Award from Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the WORLDiscoveries Annual Vanguard Award. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, lectured worldwide, and presented research findings at several international forums. He has attracted visiting scientists from many places and has been invited as a collaborator with researchers in Canada, USA and China. He has also developed novel therapies to reduce cardiovascular disease, and patented a new therapy for sepsis and a novel animal model of dilated cardiomyopathy. He is now working on establishing a new biomarker to predict cardiac complications of diabetes.
Dr. Peng has been an inspiring mentor for the next generation of scientists. He has supervised a total of 55 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, many of whom have become medical and academic leaders.
