Tune into Fairchild Television 8:50pm this Sat. to Donate for Sickkids
On Saturday, May 3rd, Fairchild TV will host their annual SickKids Telethon (presented by Shiu Pong Group of Companies), in support of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). This year CPAC is proud to be a community partner. CPAC and SickKids share a common vision: to give children hope, afford them the best opportunities, and help build a better future for all; Chinese children in particular.
Currently, 1.3 million people of Chinese descent live in Canada and 20 Chinese delegations have visited SickKids in the last seven years to build partnerships in support of child health. As part of the Chinese Initiative to raise money to support of priorities in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), CPAC would like to invite all of its members to support this very worthy cause. SickKids is home to one of the only NICUs in Ontario that can provide highly specialized care to premature infants and critically ill newborns as young as 23 weeks who might weigh less than one pound.
The need is enormous. Every year, more than 100,000 children go to SickKids for life-saving care and the number continues to grow. Thanks in large part to donations, SickKids is already one of the world’s leading health-care institutions. With continued support, SickKids can continue to push the frontiers of what is possible in care, research and learning. Every dollar counts. Every supporter makes a difference for kids.
The SickKids Telethon will feature compelling stories of Chinese staff and patients, including Gabbie, who was born prematurely at 28 weeks old and was transported to the SickKids NICU to receive specialized care for complications, and Grace, who was so fragile, that she would break a bone simply by being picked up. At 2 years old, Grace weighed only 10 pounds. Tune into Fairchild Television on May 3, 2014 at 8:50 p.m to hear more about their stories, and many more.
To date, the Chinese community has raised more than $1.9 million through this event for SickKids, thanks to the generosity of viewers tuning in.
