CPAC Annual Gala 2026 Celebrates Chinese Canadian Contributions, Equity Advocacy, and Collective Progress

Toronto, ON — CPAC hosted its 2026 Annual Gala on February 28, 2026 at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre, bringing together hundreds of community, business, academic, and public-sector leaders from across the Greater Toronto Area to celebrate achievement, strengthen partnerships, and support CPAC’s ongoing work in research-based advocacy for equity and equal opportunities.
Under this year’s theme, “Breaking Barriers, Driving Change,” the gala highlighted the contributions of Chinese Canadian professionals and reaffirmed CPAC’s commitment to advancing equity, representation, and inclusive opportunity for all.
In her welcome remarks, CPAC President Helen Cao reflected on CPAC’s more than three decades of empowering internationally educated professionals through mentorship, career development, and community initiatives, while continuing to advance evidence-based research and advocacy through the CPAC Institute.
A central highlight of the evening was the presentation of CPAC Achievement Awards recognizing outstanding accomplishments and community impact.
Professional Achievement Award — Brigitte Shim
Toronto-based architect and educator Brigitte Shim, co-founder of Shim-Sutcliffe Architect, was recognized for her internationally acclaimed design work and lasting contributions to Canadian architecture and education.
Young Achiever Award — Rebecca Wu
Rebecca Wu, a third-year medical student at the University of Toronto, was recognized for her contributions to neuroscience research, clinical innovation, medical education, and community leadership.
As CPAC’s signature annual fundraising event, the Gala plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s research, training, and public education initiatives. Proceeds from the evening help advance programs that address systemic barriers, promote equity, and strengthen leadership capacity within Chinese and broader Asian Canadian communities.
