CPAC Education Day Targets Parents’ Need for Information

The 8th CPAC Education Day will be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at a public secondary school in North York (100 Princess Avenue, North York, ON M2N 3R7). All parents and students are welcome at this free event; while seats are limited, please register at http://cpac2015eday.eventbrite.com/ to reserve your seat.

The goal of CPAC Education Day is to help immigrant families understand the education system and prepare their children for their academic future. The event allows parents to make informed decisions through the advice of exhibitors and experienced speakers. Many schools and educational institutions will exhibit on site and provide mini-information sessions. A keynote presentation and three breakout workshops will be tailored to the needs of parents and students.

The keynote presentation will be delivered in a new format. Instead of one keynote speaker, a panel of three parents of previous years’ CPAC Award/Scholarship recipients will be invited to share their experience and insights on parenting. As the title “Impact of Parents on Student Success” suggests, the presentation will introduce different styles of parenting and their impact on success.

In addition, three workshops will be presented by experienced educators, teachers, parents and students who have valuable experience to share with the participants. The topics are

1. Choosing a University: what’s more important, the school or the program?

2. Public vs. Private Schools: pros and cons for parents to consider (panel discussion)

3. Know Your Kids’ Potential & Provide the Appropriate Guidance.

CPAC Education Day is comprised of a Conference and Education Info Fair. Many colleges, universities and education-related service providers will attend this year’s event, offering ample opportunities for participants to learn everything they want to know about Canadian education.

“Since its inception seven years ago, this event has provided information, guidance and inspiration to tens of thousands of students and parents,” said Richard Lim, President of CPAC Foundation. “We will continue our efforts and bring more events like this to the community,” added Mr. Lim

Education Day 2015 is free to the public. Seats are limited! Please register online at http://cpac2015eday.eventbrite.com/ as earlier as possible . At the event, registered participants will enjoy a free snack.
